Reclaim your emotions

Emotions are a part of the human experience, and they aren't essentially bad.  In fact, emotions are immeasurably beneficial to us.  Some of them help us enjoy our daily experiences and some of them help us to avoid danger.  Emotions serves us well.  However, when emotions take control of our actions, they can cause major problems for us and for the people around us.
Have you ever felt as if your emotions were completely out of your control?  Perhaps something aggravated you, and your feelings just took over.  Your heart raced, your face flushed, your fists clenched, and your mouth started verbally spewing whatever ugly emotion you were feeling! At one time or another, or perhaps on a fairly regular basis, each one of us has allowed emotions to take control. Our flesh has a good time running free with emotions, however, it is not always beneficial to us or to the people around us to give our emotions that control.  It might feel good, but very often it hurts others-and it always hurts us.

The wonderful thing about knowing God is that He offers us a solution for every difficulty we face. For the difficult task of controlling our emotions, He offers us the power of His indwelling Spirit to take back the reigns and restore peace to our souls.  2 Peter 1:2, says, "Grace and peace be yours in the abundant knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord."  God wants us to live in peace. Also,  Psalm 37:8 says, "Cease from anger and forsake wrath; fret not yourself-it tends only to evildoing."

When we feel weak and our emotions feel strong, we can lean on God's grace that is sufficient for us. (2 Cor. 12:9.  In our weakness, God's power will enable us to reclaim control over our emotions.

My prayer is that we all take advantage of the peace that we can get when we give it to God.

Thanks for taking a moment of your time to be with me today

Have a great ride and make it count!
